Actor David Duchovny Is Coming To Australia To Tour His Music For The Very First Time

Actor, director, author and alien hunter, David Duchovny, has announced his first ever Australian concert tour.

The ‘X-Files’ actor, known to many as FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder, released his debut album Hell Or Highwater in 2015, as something of a tribute to his musical heroes like Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, The Beatles and R.E.M..

He’ll be bringing his music to Australia in February and March 2018, with shows locked in for Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle and Brisbane. Catch all the dates, ticket details and UFO sightings, below.



Duchovny is currently working on his second studio album, due out later this year, which means Aussie fans will be among the first to hear some of his new songs live.

Remember when David Duchovny shocked us all by releasing a full album of original material called Hell Or Highwater?

No? That's OK, it's been a big couple of years. The important thing is, it was 12 glorious tracks of dulcet, Duchovnian crooning influenced by The X-Files star's personal musical heroes Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, REM and The Beatles.

More importantly, he's now preparing for the upcoming release of his second full-length effort, due out later this year, so there's about to be another whole serve of this brand of baritone goodness for you to digest.

But most importantly, the man best-known as Fox Mulder (more like silver Fox Mulder, amirite) is bringing all of this musical energy to Australia for a run of live concert shows in early 2018, touching down in late February to melt hearts in Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle and Brisbane.

With the shows coming in the wake of this year's imminent (second) X-Files revival, Duchovny is well and truly back in the limelight right now, and these shows — which themselves follow a string of sold-out affairs in Europe and the US — are a brilliant chance to see another side of the in-demand actor.

An exclusive fan pre-sale for Select Touring members will kick off at 9am AEST this Wednesday, 31 May, with general release tickets going on sale from 9am local time on Friday 2 June.

David Duchovny, the artist formerly known as Mulder, will tour Australia in 2018 … as a rock star.

Duchovny released his debut album ‘Hell or Highwater’ in 2015. The album was influenced by Wilco, R.E.M. and Bob Dylan. The band Weather backed Duchovny in the studio.



Duchovny is currently recording a follow-up in LA.

David Duchovny first big role was as drag queen agent Dennis Bryson in Twin Peaks. His big role as Agent Mulder in The X-Files made him famous.



Mulder’s character made it all the way to The Simpsons.



More recently Duchovny created another iconic character as Hank Moody in Californication. The show lasted seven seasons and aired between 2007 and 2014.

David Duchovny is touring Australia – as a rock musician, ‘cos he’s also a rock musician

Depending on your specific television tastes, you either know David Duchovny from his iconic role as Fox Mulder on The X-Files, or as slutty alcoholic novelist Hank Moody on Californication. You’ve maybe also seen him in drag on of Twin Peaks, or hunting Charles Manson in Aqaurius, (or as Tea Leoni’s handbag in The Entire ’90s) but you’ve most likely never heard his 2015 album Hell of Highwater. It’s good, moody ’70s-sounding rock, and he means it, man.

Duchovny has decided that a run of shows up the Australian east coast is the best way to road-test the tunes from his upcoming second album, and frankly, we tend to agree. So he has announced five such shows, for next February.

There are meet and greet packages available for all shows, and if you nab one of those be sure to ask him if he believes in aliens in real life. He’ll love it!

If you were around in the nineties you know exactly who he is.

David Duchovny was Fox Mulder on the X-Files, Denise Bryson on Twin Peaks, and Hank Moody on Californication. He also published two books since 2015: Holy Cow: A Modern-Day Dairy Tale and Bucky F*cking Dent.



He acts. He writes. And now, he sings.

Influenced by Wilco, Leonard Cohen, R.E.M and Bob Dylan, “Hell or Highwater” is Duchovny’s debut album and his first opportunity to pass on sending political messages through his music. The 56-year-old actor, known for his anti-Trump political views, recently suggested that the President’s policies are X-Files material.

But well, the best (and most important) things in life are free and not related to politics. Duchovny sings about love, addiction, and loss in his 12-track album and leaves the discussion of current events out of his tunes.

“Hell or Highwater” is honest and has no false claims – Duchovny admits that he just started playing guitar a few years ago. And that's nostalgic and refreshing at the same time.
