ITV This Morning: David Duchovny CUT OFF in awkward moment as he takes over show

THIS MORNING hosts Rylan Clark-Neal and Rochelle Humes were left struggling to maintain their composure when Hollywood guest David Duchovny suddenly hijacked their roles on the ITV programme, and things only got more awkward as the actor was then cut off.

Filling in for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, ITV guest presenters Rylan and Rochelle were delighted to welcome X Files actor David, 58, to the This Morning sofa.

Rylan, 30, made no secret of how much he was a huge fan of the hugely-popular science fiction drama, but understood he was there to interview David about his new venture first and foremost.

The actor is currently touring music venues performing his brand new album in the UK, and tonight is the last night of his run.

But while David was enthusiastic about his projects, it was nothing compared to what came next.

In a complete change in tone, David popped up behind Rylan and Rochelle when they moved across the studio to continue on with the next segment.

Holding their iPads and reading out some of the viewer tweets, the presenters couldn’t contain themselves for too long as they had to address the fact David was standing right in the middle of them.

Joking he was just there to watch the puppets after the break - the stars of the new Madagascar musical were in the studio to perform a slimmed down version - David didn’t seem to care he was just hanging around on the set.

Trying to give the guest a job to do as she read out viewers’ messages at home, Rochelle asked: “Do you want to pop in?”

The hosts then fought back laughter as David proceeded to do just that.

But when the actor continued to talk, he wasn’t aware of the tight time constraints on the programme and unfortunately producers had to cut him off to go to the competition.



Rylan did his best to ask some more questions to the actor, including: “Do you have a little ritual when you go on stage?”

Yet David didn’t appeared to be interested once his initial interview had concluded.

“See we tried to get a little bit more out of him there,” Rylan joked. “But he’s just there for the puppets!”

Taking to Twitter, viewers were in hysterics over the guest’s funny antics.

“Oh man where did David Duchovny go?! #ThisMorning,” one person tweeted.


Another said: “#ThisMorning @thismorning #davidduchovny @davidduchovny poor guy didn’t get a word in edgeways!! Let him talk about Gillian LOL #xfiles.”

“David Duchovny playing up. Love it. #thismorning,” a third giggled.

While a fourth noted: “Oh David Duchovny is making my day right now on #ThisMorning.”

“God bless David Duchovny for being fully involved with the hosting of #thismorning and refusing to leave because he wants to be part of the Madagascar bit!” a fifth added.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
