Re: 2016/06/22 - David and Gillian nomead 42nd Annual Saturn Awards
The X-Files' Revival: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson Mulder/Scully Saturn Awards 2016 Nods!
By popular demand from fans and critics, Fox aired the finale of their iconic sci-fi/horror series. After the revival finale of The X-Files, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) dominated the 2016 Saturn Awards nominations.
In our previous recap, though they have split apart, Mulder and Scully are reluctantly back together after Tad O'Malley (Joel McHale) provides physical proof of an alien abduction. Initially Scully had her doubts about Sveta (Annet Mahendru), Mulder believes she is the key. Because Roswell was misdirection, Mulder believes humans have been hoarding alien technology for their darker motives. After discrediting Tad to the press, Sveta is killed on the spot by a government-controlled alien ship. Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davies) has come out of hiding after heating The X-Files has been re-opened.
In our recent recap, Miller (Robbie Amell) and Einstein (Lauren Ambrose) rushed to Scully's aid as she discovered Mulder missing. While Tad O'Malley (Joel McHale) revealed to the nation about human/alien DNA, Scully raced against the clock find a cure for the Spartan virus. With former Agent Reyes (Annabeth Gish) reluctantly working for him, Cancer Man smiled as he watched Mulder slowly collapse from the infection. Though Scully had the cure inside her, the government-controlled alien spaceship put a sudden halt to everything.
According to Comic Book, the nominees to the 44th annual Saturn Awards have been announced. Though Anderson has been nominated twice, for Best Supporting TV Actress and Best TV Actress. One of the nods is for her role in the final season of Hannibal. Duchovny himself earned a nod for Best TV Actor. The show's tenth season also earned a nod for Best Science Fiction TV Series.
Check out our 5 reasons why we're going to miss The X-Files after its revival finale here:
The Saturn award ceremony will take place in June in Burbank.
