A happy birthday tweet from David Duchovny to Gillian Anderson is fueling the hopes of "X-Files" fans who yearn to see Mulder and Scully get back in action.
"Happy Birthday, Gillian," Duchovny wrote. "If you see Dana, tell her Fox says she might wanna polish up the ol' badge soon-ish. Love, D."
On Monday, Fox entertainment chief David Madden said that "significant talks" are under way with Duchovny, Anderson and "X-Files" creator Chris Carter to bring an 11th season to the small screen.
"We would obviously love to do another season, (but) schedules are hard," Madden told reporters at the Television Critics Association Press Tour. "We're working hard to get this done."
On the same day, Fox chairman and CEO Dana Walden said the network was eyeing a limited season of eight to 10 episodes.
After being off the air since 2002, "The X-Files" returned earlier this year in the form of a six-episode series that caught up with the characters.

David Duchovny, the star of the hit science-fiction show, "The X-Files", recently gave fans something to be excited about. In a Tweet he sent to co-star Gillian Anderson on her birthday, he added a little hint that the hit show might get a brand new season.
"The X-Files" has been the longest running sci-fi show, since it's first episode aired on September 10, 1993. The series also spawned two films, namely "The X-Files" and "The X-Files: I Want to Believe", both were met with relative success at the box office. The series recently received a reboot, with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively. The reboot of "The X-Files" premiered in January 2016, and aired six episodes for it's 10th, and supposedly final season.
Recently, fans are lead to believe that there is going to be another season of "The X-Files" as David Duchovny tweeted a birthday greeting to his "X-Files" co star, with the tweet saying "Happy Birthday, Gillian. If you see Dana, tell her Fox says she might wanna polish up the ol' badge soon-ish. Love, D" This sent fans searching for answers, to see if the show is truly going to make a comeback, according to a report from CNET.
Fox Entertainment, the studio that brought "The X-Files" to life after 14 long years, could possibly be planning an 11th season. In a report from Deadline, Dana Walden, the chairman of Fox TV Group, spoke at TCA Monday, saying that she would've wanted to do more in the series' revival. "We would have liked to do more in the first place, but there were limitations. Gillian lives in the U.K. David in New York and Los Angeles. The show shoots in Vancouver. So it's about coordinating a time when they can carve time to be in Vancouver," says Walden.
For now, fans of "The X-Files" can only wait until Fox indeed confirms the show's 11th season.

'The X-Files' season 11 news: Is it really happening?

(Fox)Poster for "The X-Files" season 10.
When Fox released a shortened tenth season of "The X-Files" early this year, nobody anticipated that the revival would become a hit once again. Fortunately for fans, the show earned massive ratings for the network. Many are now wondering whether there will be an eleventh season for the beloved sci-fi series.
Fox thankfully has a positive answer (sort of) for fans. As it turns out, the network is hard at work negotiating with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson to reprise their respective roles as Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agent Fox Mulder and FBI special agent Dana Scully for a season 11 of "The X-Files."
Fox entertainment president David Madden made the reveal during the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour this week (via TVLine).
"Significant talks [are underway]. We would obviously love to do another season [but] schedules are hard. We're working hard to get this done," said Madden.
Over the past couple of months since "The X-Files" season 10 premiere, the stars and executives of the show had been quite vague as to the future of the show. Clearly, Madden's revelation that Fox is working hard to negotiate with Duchovny and Anderson is a stroke of good news and is something worth being excited about.
That said, it can't be helped if some fans are still cautious of getting too excited about the possibility of a season 11 premiering anytime soon. A lot could still happen in the coming months. Anderson just recently signed a contract with the series "American Gods" at Starz, while Duchovny isn't one to go idle in the entertainment industry for long. Naturally, it would prove quite difficult for Fox to get the two stars' schedules to work out.
It's also worth noting that Fox Television CEO Dana Walden previously stated that the network is eyeing eight to ten episodes for "The X-Files" season 11. Since season 10 only had six episodes, the possible next season would need more filming time, hence more schedule adjustments for Fox as well when it comes to Anderson and Duchovny.
Nevertheless, the possibility of "The X-Files" season 11 is already there, and it's a hope for fans that it wouldn't take another fourteen years before the season airs.

News: The X-Files Season 11 Will Be Longer
After a mostly dreadful Season 10, the next go round will feature more episodes.
After a mostly dreadful Season 10, the next go round will feature more episodes.
As we had hoped (despite the negativity of the last season), Season 11 will most likely get more episodes. When asked about the status of the show, producers Dana Walden and David Madden said they hope for more episodes without the limitations of the Season 10. They're referring to Anderson living in the UK while the show films in the U.S. and some minor budgetary constraints. They're hoping to squeeze in 8-10 chapters for the next season with added hope of getting started sooner than later.
With many fans (like us) not being too thrilled with the way the initial reprise went, the people behind the show understand the stance many viewers took and may be looking for another way to reinvigorate the show with better story lines and follow through. No matter how how any of us felt about the short season we got, it would be great to see Mulder and Scully again and get some closure for the story they started.

The X-Files: David Duchovny Teases Another Season Is Coming
Fans of The X-Files may see Mulder and Scully back on the small screen sooner rather than later. David Duchovny teased a new season of the FOX series in his birthday message to Gillian Anderson on his Twitter account, according to Variety.
The X-Files returned to FOX earlier this year for a 10th season, and fans were left with a cliffhanger and wanting more. Scheduling is the only thing stopping an 11th season from going into production. All parties involved have various projects on their plates.
Dana Walden and David Madden both talked about the return of the series at the TCA’s on Tuesday too. There are “significant talks” underway with the three main players of the series to bring the series back. It is just a matter of finding the time.

David Duchovny Hints at More ‘X-Files’
BY KAT SOMMERS
Reviews were mixed when cult 1990s show The X-Files was revived earlier this year for a six-episode tenth season, but it’ll take more than that to extinguish our love for Mulder and Scully—and Mulder knows it, the big tease.
Yesterday (August 9) was Gillian Anderson‘s 48th birthday, and her longtime co-star and partner-in-the-paranormal David Duchovny couldn’t resist congratulating her on it.
Er, what was that, David? Is there something you want to tell us?
We didn’t have to look very far to find out. According to Variety, Fox TV Studios President David Madden told reporters on Monday (August that Fox is “in significant talks with the three principals” about coming back for more episodes. And by “three” principals, they mean Duchovny, Anderson, and the show’s creator, Chris Carter.
It was their calendars that meant the last season came, shall we say, a little short. Fox Broadcasting CEO Dana Walden explained: “It was really the limitations of David and Gillian and Chris’ schedules. Gillian lives in the U.K., David lives in New York and California, and we do the show in Vancouver. […] So it was just trying to coordinate a time where they all carve out a period to be in Vancouver.”
She went on to promise a longer season this time, saying, “I would be really happy if we were able to get eight to 10 episodes”.
Us too, Dana. Yeah, you’ve got us. In true X-Files style, we’re willing to suspend our disbelief one more time. Just don’t you and David get our hopes up for nuthin’.

Re: David, Gillian, Chris Carter 'On Board' For Season 11, Per Fox CEO
Another Series Of The X-Files Coming
Mulder and Scully could be headed back to the small-screen a lot sooner than expected – according to The X-Files stalwart David Duchovny.
Taking to Twitter to wish co-star Gillian Anderson a happy birthday, Duchovny teased that conversations are taking place with the higher-ups at Fox about The X-Files returning for another series of supernatural thrills and spills.
It’s far from a confirmation, and the jury’s still out on whether the actor’s post is a red herring, but here’s the Tweet in question: Referring to the recent Television Critics Association, it appears as though at the very least, the Powers That Be over at Fox are contemplating further episodes of The X-Files.
President of Entertainment David Madden stated “I actually think that the six episodes were strong. We worked hard with Chris on the previous season. The episodes represent Chris and his team’s vision. Everybody reads what they read, but if we have the opportunity to do more episodes, we will take our cue from Chris and his team. I think that there was some very strong work throughout the season, and we look forward to more.”

Another “X-Files” Coming “Soon-Ish,” Teases Duchovny
(LOS ANGELES) — In a birthday tweet to his former X-Files partner Gillian Anderson on Tuesday, David Duchovny hinted that the paranormal series could live again.
Duchovny and Anderson played FBI agents in the show: he played Fox Mulder, a dogged believer in paranormal cases, and she — at least initially — Dr. Dana Scully, the hard-nosed skeptic assigned to debunk them.
“Happy Birthday, Gillian,” Duchovny noted. “If you see Dana, tell her Fox says she might wanna polish up the ol’ badge soon-ish. Love, D.”
The pair reunited for a well-received limited reboot of the Fox show earlier this year year, and now the actor’s quip has fans wondering if more could be in store.

David Duchovny: The X-Files will be back ‘soonish’
By Nicholas Yong - August 11, 2016
Are you missing The X-Files yet? It’s been seven months since we got a mere six episodes of the revived cult TV series, and geeks everywhere went mental.
Since those six (surprisingly good) episodes, there’s been no real indication of whether we’ll be getting more of our favourite FBI agents Mulder and Scully.
And then David Duchovny a.k.a. Fox Mulder went and tweeted this birthday greeting to his co-star Gillian Anderson a.k.a. Dana Scully.
Happy Birthday, Gillian. If you see Dana, tell her Fox says she might wanna polish up the ol' badge soon-ish. Love, D
— David Duchovny (@davidduchovny) August 9, 2016
Duchovny was referring to the Television Critics Association press tour, where Fox Broadcasting CEO Dana Walden spoke of the “significant talks” underway about bringing back The X-Files. Walden said that if the revival does go on, she would like to see “eight to 10 episodes”.
“It was really the limitations of David and Gillian and Chris’ [Carter] schedules. Gillian lives in the UK, David lives in New York and California, and we do the show in Vancouver. Chris lives up north. So it was just trying to coordinate a time where they all carve out a period to be in Vancouver.”
So there you have it, geeks. Let us all pray that the X-Files trio finds the right slot in their schedules, and more importantly, Fox pays them exactly what they ask for.
